Alamo Area Regional Law Enforcement Academy

The Alamo Area Council of Governments Regional Law Enforcement Academy is a premiere law enforcement academy that provides training to 13 counties within the region.  We offer three types of licensing courses as well as a vast array of law enforcement In-Service, Leadership, and Continuing Education Training.  Our main focus is the Basic Peace Officer Course, which is the longest in duration and the most regulated.  Cadets that attend our Academy graduate with over 950 training hours, well exceeding the 640 hours mandated by the State.  Cadets earn their certifications in Radar/Lidar, TASER, OC Spray, NAPD Driving, etc. in addition to the required TCOLE training.  We also offer Basic Telecommunicator Licensing Course as well as the Basic County Corrections Course.  We currently offer three Basic Peace Officer Courses each year, but this year we will begin a 4th, with the addition of a part-time (night) Academy.  You can find out more about our Licensing Courses as well as our In-Service training by visiting our website at www.aacog.com/academy .

We offer three types of licensing training to our region and beyond. Our main focus is the Basic Peace Officer program, which is the longest in duration and most regulated. Cadets graduate our Academy with over 950 hours of training, well exceeding the required 640 hours that TCOLE mandates. We also offer Basic Telecommunicator Licensing Course as well as the Basic County Corrections Course. We currently have 3 Basic Peace Officer Courses each year, and will be starting a 4th in the fall of 2018, with a part-time (night) course, requiring cadets to attend 4 hours each day instead of the full 8 hours.
