Job Description

The RSPD is a progressive department consisting of 46 sworn officers.  Police officers perform a variety of duties involved in the enforcement of laws and the prevention of crimes; conduct and participate in general investigations of crimes, accidents, and cases; control traffic flow and enforce State and local traffic regulations.  Officers start out in Patrol and can work towards special assignments as Detectives, Field Training Officers, Tactical Team Member, K-9 Officers, Traffic Officers, or School Resource Officers. 

Candidates must pass a physical fitness test, written P.O.S.T. exam, oral board interview, polygraph and intensive background investigation. Certified Peace Officers in the State of Wyoming are not required to take the written exam and could be considered lateral transfers.  Applications can be picked at City Hall or downloaded online at the City’s website www.rswy.net
