Unit Secretary – FT –8:00 am – 4:30 pm - 80 hours per pay period – Occasional evenings and weekends required
ESSENTIAL PURPOSE: The purpose of the position is to assist the nurses assigned to the neighborhood in their day to day recording and charting of medical, nursing and administrative information in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards and to ensure that the medical records are maintained in an informative and descriptive manner. Order and maintain supply levels on units and create billing records fromÂ Orbits and other records. Responsible for scheduling all appointments as well as a means for transportation for residents. Responsible for assisting with the neighborhood dining program.
REPORTS TO: Director of Nursing
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
Must have a high school diploma or GED. One-two years of experience as a medical assistant or medical secretary preferred. Graduate of a medical assistant or medical secretary program preferred. Must have strong organizational skills and the ability to work in an area with frequent interruptions is required.
Must possess strong oral and written communication skills. Experience answering telephones in an office environment with a professional tone of voice or phone etiquette. Must maintain confidentiality at all times. Must be proficient in word, email, and internet use as well as scanning and attaching information to the electronic health record. Must be comfortable interacting with residents and helping with meals.
